Welcoming Our Community Home Again
Over the past few months, something truly special has been happening at The Welcome Mat Day Center — we’ve opened our doors wide and invited Cheyenne’s unhoused community back home.
The response has been incredible. Word has spread that The Welcome Mat is once again a place of warmth, compassion, and hope — and because of that, our daily participation has more than doubled. Every day, we see familiar faces returning and new ones coming through our doors, each person looking for a meal, a shower, or simply a place where they’re treated with dignity.
While this growth fills our hearts, it has also stretched our resources thinner than ever before. We’re now serving close to 50 people every day, and our shelves are quickly emptying. To keep meeting the needs of our community, we urgently need donations of:
-
Canned foods and soups
-
Non-perishable, easy-to-eat items (tuna packets, protein bars, etc.)
-
Warm gloves and backpacks
-
Hygiene products (toothpaste, deodorant, feminine care, etc.)
-
Sleeping bags and blankets
Each donated item helps someone stay warm, nourished, and hopeful. Every contribution — big or small — reminds our neighbors that they matter and are not forgotten.
Together, we can keep The Welcome Mat a place of safety, care, and community for everyone who walks through our doors.
Donations can be dropped off Monday–Saturday, 9 AM–2 PM at 907 Campbell Avenue, Cheyenne, WY.
